We're getting a quote of $4,800 to replace our peerless oil-fired steam boiler. We're going to shop around and see if we can get a better deal, but assuming we can't, $4,800 is a LOT of money. I've done some minor plumbing (kitchen/bath) and I've got some time on my hands. Can I pick up some book(s) and learn how to do this? It'll be the same type of boiler but smaller, so the pipes will need to be extended, but all of the of connections should be the same.
Ideas?
