Banging, with no other reasons that had banging berfore is from the timing of the steam passing through the system. The old boiler took longer to heat up and steam.

There is also no mention of any difference in input whether gas or oil.

A combination of a new fast-steaming boiler due to less metal and water content plus increased input over the older boiler means faster steaming to the radiation and faster condensate formation running back against the incoming steam.

A way to reduce the banging is to reduce the input so there is a slower steaming rate.
