: I have a 3 yr. old raised ranch home with a very loud banging pipes. The boiler is a peerless with a two zone baseboard heat. I always heard banging and air pockets. I had a friend(plumber) install a spirovent to get ride of the air problem. It worked really well. Then it got cold and now when the zone kicks in (not every time, but most) BANG!. My friend said its the pipes getten caught on structual beams and then releasing. I've located where most of the banging occurs. Now what? I've heard there's a part that can be installed on a long run of pipe to ease the banging(i think it was oil filled or something). Or do I tear down my sheetrock or buy my wife ear muffs. Any imput would greatly be appricated.
