So you lived there all that time without a pressure release valve on your boiler? You are a lucky man...It belongs on the boiler, tapped directly into the shell. Sure, put one on the domestic loop too if you want, but fersure on the boiler.

Now the fun part that should tell you that you need to hire a professional...a safety release valve must be placed, sized and set to release all the pressure and btu/hr the boiler might develope should other controls fail. Unless you can interpret and calculate those values, you would be wasting your time making the repair yourself. And besides, you would be responsible if your screw it up and be the caused of the new owner geting blasted thru the roof.
